AGYA Annual Conference 2025 | University of Sharjah

The AGYA Annual Conference 2025 served as a high-level platform to advance strategic cooperation between Germany and the United Arab Emirates in research, innovation, and talent development. Hosted by the University of Sharjah, the conference brought together leading researchers, policymakers, industry representatives, and emerging scholars from Germany, the UAE, and the wider Arab world.

The conference opened with an official opening ceremony, recognising the new AGYA members and reinforcing a shared commitment to fostering academic excellence and early-career research leadership across borders.

As a bilateral institution operating at the interface between German and UAE stakeholders, the German Emirati Institute contributed strategically to high-level panel discussions, sharing its expertise in:

  • Connecting German and UAE research ecosystems through structured partnership models

  • Empowering young researchers and future leaders via applied, practice-oriented initiatives

  • Building sustainable academic, innovation, and industry networks between Germany and the UAE

These contributions underscored the German Emirati Institute’s role as a trusted bridge-builder between German and Emirati actors, translating strategic dialogue into concrete cooperation formats and long-term partnerships.

A flagship element of the German Emirati Institute’s engagement was the design and implementation of the Student Competition “NextGen Innovators – The Innovation Bridge: Connecting Research, Industry & Future Innovators.”
This initiative operationalised bilateral cooperation by:

  • Identifying and nurturing high-potential student talent in the UAE

  • Linking academic research with German and international industry expertise

  • Providing access to professional mentoring and transnational networks

Students developed and presented innovative solutions to real-world challenges, evaluated by an interdisciplinary jury from academia, industry, and entrepreneurship—demonstrating the effectiveness of early-stage talent development as a strategic investment in future innovation ecosystems.

The AGYA Annual Conference 2025 highlighted the value of institutional partnership models that combine research excellence, talent empowerment, and industry engagement across borders. The German Emirati Institute remains committed to working with partners and supporters in Germany and the United Arab Emirates to scale impact-driven initiatives, strengthen bilateral cooperation, and jointly shape resilient and future-oriented knowledge and innovation ecosystems.
